The GalleryIn August of 1998 I was wrestling with ways to get my friend Bob Gevert to learn how to use a computer. At work he was still designing with paint brush and graph paper. His employer would dangle the idea training him to use CAD (computer aided design) but never follow through. One night I brought my laptop down to his Grenich Village apartment, along with a cheap graphics tablet. We took turns simply painting pictures in CorelDraw. I would draw one, then he would draw one, etc. We drank wine, ate cheese, and we created art. I posted the resulting "gallery" of works on a web site the next day and he showed his employer what he had done. The next day arrangments were made for him to be given a computer station and training, and the rest is history... I enjoy painting, but I have a long journey ahead before I'm happy with my own works. I'm proud to post the gallery in its original form here. Perhaps my greatest work of art took the form of an exciting chapter in Bob's career. |
